Final Cut Pro 6 Level 1 Certification Prep

Preparing for your Certification Exam

It is a good idea to take the Final Cut Pro 200 course to help you prepare for the exam. Use the book provided to you in class. You will want to be very conscientious about doing all the exercises and working through the question and answer section at the end of each chapter. Below, you will find flash cards to help you study the questions at the end of each chapter.

  8. Launch, Navigate, and Organize

Test Preparation Flash Cards

To use these cards effectively, you should also look up the how and why related to each question.  Don’t just know the answer to the question; but also know about the tool, how the interface looks and works, why you would do such a thing, how you would go about accomplishing the task, and anything else relating to the how and why.

Virtual Cards

I created the flash cards in iFlash.  You may download these virtual flash cards, but they must be used with the iFlash software. Be sure to control-click or right click so you can download the files.  They may download and save as something other than .card You will want to change the file extension to .card

Printable Cards

Below are PDF files of flash cards. These flash cards contain the questions and answers at the end of each chapter. Both the front and back of each card is printed on one side of each paper. For best results, fold the paper in half along the solid line, use glue to merge the paper together, then cut along the dashed lines to make individual flash cards.

Note: I worked hard on preparing these flash cards.  Please do not post these files on your own web site, email the files, or share the files somehow.  Please send your students and others to this blog post (http://www.edtechblog.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=395); I would like as many people visiting my blog so they can benefit from my other posts and so I can get more traffic. :)

Great resources Laura. I just completed T3 and I sure could have used this to study with! I will pass it on to my students though!

    Ms. Dahl,

On the phone you spoke of someone who had posted a comment who hadn’t passed the test. I can’t seem to find that comment. I was wondering if you could email me a “make darn sure” list of the things we absolutely must know well to pass the test. You mentioned 3 point editing, effects and filters, 3 way color correction, and smooth cam. Are there others?

    Best Regards,

Thanks for the FCP flash cards! I just passed the Level 1 Test, and I’m sure I would have failed without them!

    Hi Laura:

Great blog. Thanks, I will pass it on. A QUESTION: I passed FCP Level 1 last July and will be attending T3 next week. I have just gone through the Book (Again)to prepare..

Could you give me any insight, pointers, or help to prepare to the T3 Test. How hard was it? Was it like the end user exam? etc, etc, etc..

I would appreciate any info you would be willing to email me.

    Thank you.

You need to study and study every night when at the T3. Where are you going? I bet somewhere fun like my adventures. Carefully choose 1 night to visit the city, but then go back and study. I am afraid you will have a bunch of long nights. But be aware that you need enough sleep to continue to cognitively function effectively. It’s a fine line…

You will also have to prepare one or two demonstration trainings. Teach exactly how the master trainer wants you to train. :)

Thanks… I am at Apple Training in Cupertino right now. Was up all night studying. Know the Weyland book fairly well and have been given some extra things to study.

Instructor seems to genuinely want us to pass the test and is very helpful.

Was there anything on the test that surprised you?

    Thanks for your time,
    John
