Mac Recycling & Old Computer Repair

Apple’s recycling program

A Greener Apple

A couple of years ago, Apple announced that they would be recycling their old computers. However, it did not even dawn on me that they would be recycling computer parts. Today while looking for a part for Ben’s computer, I stumbled upon the Mac recycling website.  They offer used Adapters, Batteries, Boards/Sound, Casing/Body, Displays, Fan/Cooling, Hard Drives, Keyboards, Logic Boards, Memory, Modems, Optical Drives, Screws, Software, Tools, and Wireless.

I can only imagine that this website is very useful to people like us who keep our old Macs and continue to use them. It would also be useful for places like school districts who need to stretch the use of their old Macs.

Ben’s Powerbook

Ben’s Powerbook 12″, my old notebook computer, is slowly losing its keys.  It makes those keys unusable.

Now that I have found the Apple recycling website, I was able to purchase a used keyboard for Ben’s computer. It should be arriving in a few days, and based on my previous experience repairing that computer, I will easily be able to replace the keyboard.

Thanks for writing about the recycling program of Apple and helping spread the word on the importance of recycling our computers and other electronic items.
