Did you know that teachers and students can create their very own Google custom search engine that only searches for online information that is reliable and truthful? Once the teacher or a group of students determines that a website is credible it can be added to a list of approved URL's. Upon completion of this "white list" Google will provide you with a public URL and/or embed code that will only query search results based on that predetermined list of URLs. I created a Google Custom search for the HolmanITRT website that will only search for information found on my website and blog - http://www.holmanitrt.com/cse. Mrs. Mitchell's health classes are researching various types of diseases. She composed a list of about 15 URLs that she knows are accurate and created a Google Custom Search that will only query those 15 approved sites. No more worrying about students stumbling onto an inappropriate website! Here is the link to her customized search engine - www.tinyurl.com/disease21

Creating your own custom search engine can be done in a matter of minutes by going to www.google.com/cse or by clicking on the button below.
