New Licensure/Relicensure Requirement

Effective July 1, 2013 every person seeking initial licensure or renewal of a license in Virginia must provide evidence of completion of certification or training in: 

• • Emergency first aid 

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

  • The use of automated external defibrillators (AED) 

Training can be accomplished via the online course in SchoolSpace. Teachers who are currently certified should provide their certification card or certificate to HR for initial licensure or in their renewal year to Staff Development. 

Once an HCPS employee has an email address, this is how to enroll in the course: 

• • Go to https://www.schoolspace.henrico.k12.va.us/default.asp (F.Y.I. - School Space now works in Chrome!)

  • Log in with your Henrico email username and password

  • Look for the Enroll By PIN section and put in CPR_AED_and_First_Aid_Course (must be exact!)

  • When it asks for a pin, type in CPRAED (case sensitive) 

  • Click on the Community Group from their home page and all content is located under the Content tab.
