What is ThingLink?

Thinglink is an online platform for creating interactive images for the web. Users can express their creativity by making images come alive with video, text, photographs, and music. Every image contains a story and ThingLink helps you tell that story. It brings static images to life by inserting a pop-up description and/or link to a website, video, or sound into the image. To begin you just need to go to ThingLink.com and sign in with your Google credentials. Once you are logged in you can upload an image and insert tags within the image that  link to a video or a website that helps to capture the essence of the image. For example, I embedded a ThingLink below highlighting some of the most helpful links found on the Holman ITRT homepage. I simply took a screenshot of my website's homepage and included video and external links to the most commonly asked about topics. If you hover your cursor over the image below you will find embedded tags to the following topics -

This is not only a great resource to use for reference material, but one that I envision being used in any content area or grade level. Students can create interactive book talks, identify key locations on a map, create an interactive bulletin board, make art talk, add multimedia to a word cloud, create biographies about important individuals in history. The possibilities are practically endless! Thinglink is also great tool for collaboration by giving users the option to allow for multiple editors.
